End of Term Reflections from the Director of Teaching and Learning (7-12)

As we come to the end of another vibrant and enriching term, it’s important to take a moment to pause, reflect and celebrate. The end of term provides a valuable opportunity for students to look back on the past nine weeks with pride and purpose—acknowledging both the wins and the lessons learned along the way.
This term has seen many highlights: from outstanding academic achievements and personal bests in the classroom, to breathtaking performances in our College Musical and spirited participation in Athletics Carnivals, sporting competitions and co-curricular pursuits. We have witnessed the power of teamwork, determination and creativity as students have grown not only in skill but in confidence. Many have also stepped forward in service and leadership, demonstrating the values and character we hope to nurture in every young person at our College.
These accomplishments deserve to be celebrated—and I encourage every student to take stock of their achievements, no matter how big or small. Whether it was a result that reflected hard work, the courage to try something new, or the ability to bounce back from a challenge, these moments matter.
At the same time, reflection is also about looking forward. As we close the chapter on this term, I invite students to consider the areas they would like to strengthen or approach differently in the term ahead. Perhaps it’s refining study habits, building resilience, being more organised, or getting more involved in College life. Whatever the goal, maintaining a growth mindset and a commitment to the development of the whole person—intellectually, emotionally, physically, and pastorally—is key.
To our students and families, I also remind you of the importance of rest. The break ahead is a time to reset, re-energise, and reconnect with what brings you joy. These moments of rest are vital in preparing our minds and bodies for the next phase of learning and growth.
As we look toward the new term, may we return with a renewed sense of purpose, clear goals, and the drive to strive for continuous improvement. Thank you to all students, families, and staff for your contributions to what has been a successful and rewarding term.
Wishing you all a restful and restorative break.
Warm regards,
Anna Whannell | Director of Teaching and Learning
