Learning Enhancement

A.B. Paterson College has a mission to develop young men and women of character – leaders now and for the future. The Learning Enhancement Faculty is committed to ensuring every child can access the curriculum, succeed and thrive at school, and in life beyond. We aim to foster independence, resilience and encourage students to develop self-confidence that will help them reach their potential. We believe that collaboration is the key to success – communication with parents, classroom teachers and with the students themselves is crucial.

A.B. Paterson values all its students and understands that every child learns differently. The staff in the Learning Enhancement Faculty collaborates with teachers and leaders across the school to ensure effective support for our students, assist staff in finding new and innovative ways to differentiate content in the classroom and to work towards the success of all involved. We provide varied assistance across P-12, from specific literacy and numeracy skills to building independence, organisational and time management abilities throughout a student’s time at the college.

We are a team of passionate Teachers and Learning Assistants who work together to find new and different ways to support the diverse needs of our learners, we love what we do and especially love to see the positive impact we can have on children during their time at the college.

Our goal this year is to look at the impact assistive technologies can have in the classroom. We believe there are a multitude of benefits to be gained from providing our students with the tools required to integrate technology into everyday learning. The social and emotional wellbeing of our students is paramount and as such we are also aiming to further integrate ‘The Wellbeing Classroom’ into our practices.
