Co-Curricular Sport

All students in Year 4-12 have the opportunity to be involved with regular sporting fixtures. The College is a member of the Associated Private Schools (APS) association which caters for students on all abilities. The APS creates opportunities for our students to represent the College in a number of team sports, as well as individual performance sports.

Individual Performance Sports (Carnivals):

  • Swimming
  • Athletics
  • Cross Country

Team Sports (some sports are modified for the Junior School):

  • AFL
  • Basketball
  • Cricket
  • Football
  • Hockey
  • Netball
  • Rugby
  • Softball
  • Tennis
  • Touch Football
  • Volleyball
  • Water Polo

Students who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to training in our Individual Performance Sports will increase their chances of selection in one of our APS teams. On top of this, those students will be rewarded by receiving an invitation to purchase one of the College’s Red Hoodies. The Red Hoodie recognises students who have trained hard through early mornings and late afternoons and are worn with pride by the students of A.B. Paterson College. For more information on the Red Hoodie, including the criteria to attain, please contact the Squads Coordinator for our Individual Performance Sports, Mr Lachlan Webb (lwebb@abpat.qld.edu.au).

Children from Prep to Year 3 develop sporting skills, balance and co-ordination through Physical Education lessons with specialist teachers. Prep students also enjoy a Music and Movement program. There is a Prep to Year 3 Olympics event each year and a modified Cross Country experience. Preps also have Learn To Swim lessons in Terms 1 and 4.
