Book Week 2025: A Celebration of Stories & Adventure

This week, A.B. Paterson College was transformed into a vibrant hub of literary excitement as students and staff celebrated Children’s Book Week 2025, themed Book an Adventure. From Monday through Thursday, the College embraced the joy of reading with a series of engaging activities designed to spark imagination and foster a lifelong love of books.

Highlights included:

  • Character dress up day. Students from all year levels dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing beloved stories to life in a colourful and joyful celebration for the final day of Term 3. Teachers and staff also joined in the fun, showcasing their own literary favourites and encouraging students to continue exploring the world through books.
  • Author visits with Charlie Thomson, Rebecca Timmis and Sophie Beer. Local authors and storytellers visited with every cohort, sharing tales and insights into the writing process, inspiring budding writers among our students.
  • Character parade for students in Prep to Year 3. On Thursday morning, students in the lower primary school met together in the DMPC to share their costumes in the annual parade. This event was hosted by Year 3 students, Evelyn, Chace, Srija and Adam.
  • Drop Everything and Read, Outside (DEAR-O). The whole college combined on the Village Green before lunch on Thursday, giving everyone the opportunity to take a break, check out the costumes and read a story with friends in the sunshine.

A.B. Paterson College is proud to support the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s mission to promote literature and literacy. Book Week 2025 was not only a celebration of books but a reminder of the power stories have to connect and inspire; everyone has a story to share.
