Grandparents & Special Friends Day

Oct 19, 2026 9:11 AM

Grandparents & Special Friends Day reminded us how magical it is when generations come together - learning, laughing, and celebrating side by side. The smiles, stories, and gentle moments shared filled our classrooms and hearts with warmth that will linger long after the day ends.

Our Grandparents & Special Friends Day was filled with smiles, stories, and songs - from morning tea to classroom adventures, book fair treasures, and inspiring choir & band performances.

A huge thank you to all the grandparents and special friends who joined us and made the day truly unforgettable!

Some lessons cannot be taught in a classroom. They are passed down. Deputy Head of Junior School, Meg Leach, shares why Grandparents and Special Friends Day celebrates the people who do just that. Watch her video here.

Year 6 Captains' Grandparents Day Reflection

On the Tuesday 13 October, we celebrated Grandparents and Special Friends Day to recognise all the wonderful things we have shared with them. It was a lovely opportunity for the children to spend special time with their grandparents and special friends.

The children were so excited to welcome their special visitors and share their learning, activities and experiences with them. It was a beautiful day filled with happiness, connection and meaningful moments.

In the morning, our special guests came to the students’ classrooms to join the students for some time. After that, students went to the Library’s Book Fair which was held in the Elderslie Theatre in the Winton Centre. It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time with their grandparents or special friends. After students returned from the Book Fair, all the guests headed to the DMPC where multiple performances were held.

Thank you to all the grandparents and special friends who joined us and helped make the day so memorable. We truly appreciate your time, love and support, and we look forward to creating many more special memories together!
