PLEASE NOTE: ABPC Netball Club is separate to APS sport.
Our Club provides the opportunity for players and the College community to participate in netball while developing long-lasting friendships, teamwork, building self-confidence and high self-esteem, and fostering a sense of achievement and pride in the College.
Our teams participate in the Northern Gold Coast Netball Association (NGCNA) competition and play at Runaway Bay netball courts each Saturday (game times are dependent on each age group). Each year we enter teams in the following age groups:
*Woolworths NetSetGO is Netball Australia’s only junior entry netball program. It provides players aged 5 to 10 years with the best possible learning and playing experience to develop a positive introduction to netball, ensuring enjoyment and continued participation. Our Club enters teams in the NetSetGO competition for players in teams aged Under 7 to Under 10.
Our teams train at the College at the following times:
Friday 3.30 pm – 4.30 pm
ABPC Junior Netball Courts
Monday 3:30pm – 5:00pm
ABPC Senior Netball Courts
Rain or shine, wet weather does not impact netball training.
For any training queries, please contact your Team Manager, check your emails, Team App or our Facebook page for clarification. Please also advise your Coach and Team Manager should you be unable to attend a training session.
Due to the design of our dress (which differs from the College APS dress), all undergarments, such as crop tops and sport bras, are required to be a 'racer back' style to ensure straps are not visible.
Players will take the court in full uniform (as outlined below) and all items can be purchased at the College Uniform Shop:
The College Uniform Shop accepts and offers second-hand Netball Club uniforms. Should you wish to sell or purchase a second-hand uniform, please visit the College Uniform Shop for more information.
During the colder months, players are permitted to wear their A.B. Paterson College sports jacket or red APS hoodie prior to and post-game play. These items cannot be worn on the court.
Our Club welcomes the active participation of Senior students and parents. In addition to our Committee roles, we invite our parents and Senior students to get involved in the following roles:
Coaches are an essential part of our Club. Coaching requires, as a minimum, a Foundation Coaching accreditation and completion of the online Community Coaching General Principles course. Coaches are also required to hold a valid Blue Card, current Netball Queensland membership and be at least 14 years of age.
If you are interested in Coaching, please read our Coach Job Description and express your interest to our Club Secretary at netballclub@abpat.qld.edu.au
Our Team Managers are responsible for the administration and management of their respective team, and providing assistance to the Team Coach where required. This hands-on role requires good communication skills and the ability to attend weekend games played at Runaway Bay.
Please note, all Team Managers (students exempt) are required
to hold a valid Blue Card. This can be applied for through our Club. Please read our Team Manager Job Description.
Umpiring is a great way for Junior and Senior students to learn the game of netball, further develop themselves as a player and earn extra pocket money. If you, or your child, is interested in finding out more information, please contact us.
Volunteers are fundamental to the success of our club. Each year we host a Club Duty Day where our Club is required to provide assistance setting up the courts, managing the Umpire Control Room, managing the Canteen and packing things away at the end of the day and we need volunteers in our community to assist with these tasks. Your Team Manager will update members on these opportunities as they become available. Alternatively, to express your interest as a Volunteer, or any role within our Club, please contact our Club Secretary at netballclub@abpat.qld.edu.au. Please note, valid Blue Cards are required for some volunteer roles (students exempt) wishing to participate in A.B. Paterson College Netball Club.
