Year 6 Reflection: Character Builders Incursion

Feb 13, 2026 2:51 PM

On Thursday 5 February, our Year 6 students took part in the Character Builders incursion, an engaging and thought-provoking experience focused on developing positive character strengths and leadership skills. Through interactive activities, discussions and real-life scenarios, students explored what it means to show resilience, kindness, responsibility and integrity in their everyday school lives.

The sessions encouraged students to reflect on their own choices, how they respond to challenges and the impact their actions can have on others. It was wonderful to see students confidently sharing ideas, collaborating with peers and making connections to how these strengths support both learning and wellbeing.

Below are reflections from some of our Year 6 students about their favourite part of the incursion:

“In the character builders, they let us do a lot of activities that involved teamwork (like the dance one) and let us talk with and understand a lot of people we normally wouldn’t talk to.” Maggie Wang in 6F

“I felt that this was very good for leadership and being brave. I felt more secure and comfortable around them as we slowly learnt more. Stepping up and back was something that I saw many times, with people who are usually shyer stepping up and asking questions.”  Harper Liang in 6F

“I enjoyed the dance battle even though our team lost because it is good to try. I learned to step up, to help people even if I'm shy and I learnt the leadership skills to become a leader.” Sharlene Chen in 6C

“I enjoyed the scissors, paper, rock activity. I enjoyed this because we were cheering for other peers that we may not know as well as our friends. I learned that you can 'step up' by trying to lead or participate even if you feel uncomfortable.” Eshan Rayar in 6C

“We did a thing called Champions where you say someone who helps you get through life and they told us how important it is to make sure you stay yourself. It was sweet and amazing to see people tell everyone their beautiful stories!” Sophie Becker in 6D

“We shared who our champions were. By champions, I mean someone who you look up to and think is always there for you. Mine was my older sister.” Siegfried Perez in 6D

“My favourite part of character builders was all the different activities we got to do. I learnt lots about leadership like the importance of helping others as a leader and you do not have to always do it yourself; you should allow others to do things too.” Nicholas Liew in 6S

We look forward to continuing to build on these important themes throughout the year as part of our leadership and personal development programs in Year 6.
