Brisbane 2032 comes to A.B. Paterson College
A.B. Paterson College was delighted to welcome Dominique Lamb, Director of Community Affairs to the President of Brisbane 2032, to the College this week for a special Pathways event with our Years 10–12 students.
Dominique shared valuable insights into the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, encouraging students to think beyond the sporting competition itself and consider the enormous legacy the Games will create for Queensland.
Her presentation explored the breadth of opportunities that will emerge across industries including business, tourism, technology, infrastructure, communications, events and community engagement, highlighting that Brisbane 2032 will require an extraordinary range of skills and professions. For our students, many of whom will be entering the workforce as preparations for the Games accelerate, the message was particularly relevant.

Dominique also spoke about her own career journey, from her background in law and industrial relations through to her former role as Queensland Small Business Commissioner and now her leadership role with Brisbane 2032. Her pathway provided students with an important reminder that careers are rarely linear and that the skills, relationships and experiences developed along the way can lead to opportunities that may not have initially been anticipated.
Adding to the excitement of the visit, Dominique brought along exclusive limited-edition Brisbane 2032 blue wristbands for our students. The wristbands were a huge hit and provided students with a special keepsake from the day and an early connection to a defining event in Queensland's future.
The visit formed part of the College's broader Pathways program, which connects students with leaders, industries and organisations shaping the future of Queensland. With Brisbane 2032 now less than six years away, opportunities such as this allow our students to understand not only what is coming, but how they can position themselves to be part of it.
We sincerely thank Dominique for generously sharing her time, experience and perspective with our College community, and for the special Brisbane 2032 merchandise. We look forward to continuing the conversation as Brisbane prepares to welcome the world in 2032.
