Instrumental music at A.B. Paterson College is delivered via private tuition on a chosen instrument and involvement in extra-curricular ensembles. 

A.B. Paterson College prides itself on its ever expanding instrumental program where tuition is available on most instruments.  Our band and ensemble program allow students to participate at all levels.  Participation is not generally judged by year level, but more by ability level, so that all ensembles can enjoy the talents of the students at their level.

Our core ensembles lie within the Concert Band and Strings programs.  We also have specialist ensembles in the Big Band program and smaller ensembles in the Rock, Guitar and Percussion areas.  Other ensembles are created such as flute, saxophone, brass etc. on an as needed basis.

All ensembles are given as many performance opportunities as possible which may include internal functions such as assemblies and special occasions and also external events such as Eisteddfods and other venues and festivals.
