MLTAQ Speech Competition Results

“Every new language we speak opens new possibilities.” - Ali Anthony Bell

The 41st Annual MLTAQ Speech Competition was held at Griffith University last weekend (Sunday 21 August) with 45 students from Years 4 – 12, representing A.B. Paterson College in 4 languages: Japanese, Spanish, Chinese and Russian.

The Languages Faculty are so proud of the students who represented our College and achieved outstanding results in their respective categories. Our languages students certainly demonstrated the character strengths of bravery, as it is not an easy task of public speaking in a foreign language in front of a panel of judges and responding to impromptu questions.

Their amazing results, however, are testament to their diligence and love of learning foreign languages. A.B. Paterson College students achieved an overall total of 5 Gold, 8 Silver, 7 Bronze and 23 Highly Commended Awards. A special mention must go to Year 11 students, Charlotte Squire and Ally Zhou who achieved 1st and 2nd place respectively in the Year 11 Japanese State Division – what an incredible achievement for both of these talented young ladies!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL PARTICIPANTS THIS YEAR!

The 2022 MLTAQ Results are listed in the Illalong Newsletter 25 August 2022.
