Investing in our Students

In recent weeks many parents may have noticed some of the capital projects that have commenced across the College. The built environment has the potential to have a significant influence on the engagement of students in their studies, and as a result, can impact student outcomes in terms of academic results, College culture and behaviour, and interpersonal relationships.

A focus on student centric design has been prioritized through the recent master planning process and forms part of some of these projects already underway:

  • Refurbishment of the CLC / Parkes building has commenced and will not only refresh the building for our senior students, but also showcase several different learning environments for our teachers to test, experiment, and refine how they deliver academic programs at the College. Feedback from these learning spaces will be used to inform further investments across both the Junior and Senior Schools in the months and years to come;
  • Our Uniform Shop is normally a place of first impressions for many new parents and students to A.B. Paterson College. It will undergo a complete refit during November and December allowing more natural light into the facility, improved layout, and a more professional environment for our staff to serve our community;
  • In addition to this, we are expanding and relaunching our gym in early 2023 with approximately 360m2 of space for our students to train. The open plan layout will include new commercial gym flooring, cardio, free weights, pin loaded machines, and other high-end equipment designed in collaboration with industry consultants. This facility will enhance health and wellness, and the sporting program across the College; and
  • Outdoor play and learning spaces for our Junior School students will also get a boost in the coming months. Works for some of these will commence in November and will continue through to the early part of 2023, with the goal to make every available space a place for learning or play.

These smaller capital investments will align with the Master Plan for the site that is currently being finalised. They will also complement the prioritised major capital works for teaching and learning spaces at the College in the next number of years.

Thank you for your patience whilst these works are undertaken. The benefits for the students will last beyond graduation.
