Eisteddfod and Instrumental Evening

Well, what a week it's been for the music students at A.B. Paterson College!

Last Friday evening began with a beautiful strings concert in the Elderslie Theatre. To the delight of their very supportive audience, the Junior, Intermediate and Senior String ensembles and selected soloists, performed a wonderful mix of repertoire from Mozart to Hans Zimmer. Congratulations to Mr Philip Jack, Ms Kristil Cowdrey, Miss Rira Kong and our very talented strings students for such an entertaining evening. Special thanks also to our accompanist, Mrs Nadia MacKenzie.

That same evening, our band students performed for an enthusiastic audience of friends and family in the LPAC theatre. The students presented a program of classical, jazz, pop and rock hits which had toes tapping and hands clapping. The evening was a fabulous opportunity for the Year 5 Band, Year 6 Band, Intermediate Band, Wind Symphony, Junior Big Band, Intermediate Big Band, Senior Big Band, Junior Rock Band, Intermediate Rock Band and Senior Rock Band, to present their recent Eisteddfod performance repertoire as well as numbers they have been preparing for our upcoming Giving Day performances. Thank you to all our directors, support staff and young musicians for sharing your time and talent with our College community. We can't wait until your next performance!

On Monday, the choral section of the Gold Coast Eisteddfod began, and we have already had some amazing results! Miss Rachel Newcombe, Mrs Nadia MacKenzie and Miss Madison Eastwood, along with so many of their fabulous colleagues and accompanists, have made many trips up and down the highway to Glow Church in Robina, where our students have sung their way to success. We are so very proud of every chorister who has participated in the event and represented the College so beautifully. We hope you have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to showcase your talents and entertain the audiences at the Eisteddfod... and on the local news! Videos of some of our choirs which were reported on Channel 7 News and Channel 9 News can be viewed below.
