Cross Country Camp

Mar 12, 2026 12:00 AM

Last week, 17 students from Years 6 to 9 took off on a 3-day Cross Country Camp at Tallebudgera. Students took part in many activities including beautiful runs, beach and creek side, as well as circuit training and strength and conditioning sessions run by Steve Jackson and Nina Mackay.

On Saturday night, we had the pleasure to listen to James Blanton - an Ultra Marathon Runner. He captivated the students and they were full of questions, as were the staff. James' record for the Backyard Ultra is 82 laps (hours) = 550km of running in 3 days!

The camp culminated with a recovery swim at school and a 'cut' race on the oval. In this race, the last two runners get cut each lap, ending with one 'hot lap' to find the winner. Congratulations to Luke Benson for taking it out, followed by Ben Clark, Zach Benson and Summer Mitchell as the first girl.

All students are to be commended for their efforts across an action-packed weekend. We hope these students all learnt something and take this momentum into their Cross Country Carnival.

Thank you to Steve Jackson, Sarah Finch, Sara Eade and Nina Mackay for giving up their weekend to allow the students to have this opportunity.
