TEACHING POSITIONS
In 2013 the following professional opportunity exists for a
Teacher(s) of Violin/Viola and Violoncello
(to teach across all levels of this Prep-Year 12 College)
In addition, the successful applicant will be required to participate in the Year 4 Instrumental Programme.
Skills in conducting and/or accompanying would be advantageous.
This position is part-time (by negotiation).
Applicants must hold appropriate qualifications for this position. Applicants must also hold, or be eligible to hold, a Blue Card (Suitability to Work with Children).
A.B. Paterson College is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational school with an enrolment in 2013 of approximately 1400 students from Prep to Year 12. It is expected that the successful applicant will have a genuine commitment to an independent school ethos.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide private instruction in the string programme providing a developmental programme and creating performance opportunities
• Lead the appropriate small ensembles, providing a developmental programme and creating performance opportunities
• Conduct larger ensembles if required
• Attend and assist in organising concerts and other College occasions at which string students are participating
• Ensure that A.B. Paterson College Music School strings equipment and music is well maintained and catalogued, and be proactive in organising repairs where necessary
• Fulfil the administrative requirements of the Music School, including lesson attendance records, exam and scholarship entries, etc.
• Liaise and communicate with parents and staff effectively and professionally
• Work effectively in a range of school activities as a member of a school team
• Plan activities and present curriculum content in accordance with course advice relevant to their classes
• Identify individual learning needs, and teach in a way that enables all students to achieve success
• Apply teaching methodology and resources to meet the range of abilities and diversity in the classroom
Deputy Head of Junior School – Pastoral
Arundel, Gold Coast
(to commence in Term 3, 2013, or by negotiation)
The Deputy Head of Junior School –Pastoral is a newly created role within the College and the successful applicant will work closely with a leading Head of Junior School. This is a wonderful opportunity for a progressive forward thinking leader to contribute to the growth and development of a vibrant and dynamic community.
It is expected that the successful applicant will have a genuine commitment to an independent school ethos, including co-curricular activities, and to ongoing professional learning in the pursuit of best practice.
The successful applicant will have responsibility for overseeing the pastoral care learning programme in the Junior School; be an active member of the Pastoral Care Committee; support teachers in the development and implementation of pastoral care programmes; support classroom teachers with behaviour management strategies; and, initiate and organise student well-being practices.
Applicants must hold, or be eligible to hold, teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
